Good evening!
We have arrived in Villadolid, Spain for the night. Basically like staying in Redding on your way between here and there.
We landed in Lisbon yesterday around 11 and went straight to Fatima. We visited the homes of the little shepherds and had our first opportunity to spend our $$ and try ordering food in Portugal. So many beautiful religious articles.
Our hotel was so lovely right facing the sanctuary. There was a beautiful outdoor chapel in the middle right next to the original oak tree where our Blessed Mother appeared to the children. Then to the North there is a glorious Basilica where the children are buried. To the South end of the plaza there is a new and very modern Basilica finished just 3 years ago. We were able to celebrate Mass there w our own Father Ben. Hopefully someone else will blog about the candles and furnace and candlelight procession. So powerful!
Today we were on the bus most of the day. Its about 14 hours from Fatima to Lourdes. So tomorrow we continue our journey on to the Holy Ground of Lourdes.
Of course my favorite part is singing!! Father Uriel and Weston brought their guitars. We sang yesterday at Fatima overlooking the plaza. And a bunch in the buss today...then at our lunch stop (I had a great chorizo sandwich) we got the guitars out and sang and groups around us joined in. IT WAS AMAZING!!!
We sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 which was so beautiful. A beautiful group of people enjoying each other and the country.
I can't title these pictures from my phone but hopefully I can find a laptop to do it from eventually...
pictures of the sunrise on the flight from Philly to Lisbon...
Arrival in Lisbon...
Our first experience ordering food! In our little group we all had the same thing which was basically grilled ham and cheese. =)
I can´t figure out how to rotate this picture! that´s annoying sorry..but this is the little "neighborhood" in Fatima where the shepherd children´s homes are.
A statue in Fatima of the little shepherd children (after that my phone died so check Ann´s posts for more Fatima pics)...
At a rest stop between Fatima and Villadolid the kids found some cookies called "filipinos" =)
A windmill on the road between Fatima and Villadolid...we´ve seen a lot of these which I always find interesting especially with the connection to home and the windmills up by Burney...
Some of the countryside of Portugal...(its not as different as I expected...lots of oak trees and lots of olive trees)
We were able to have a rest stop in Salamanca once we entered Spain. Tables like this all over the place outside the shops. Such a feeling of taking it easy...
The beautiful town of Salamanca...
Inside the Plaza Mayor...
Some of the countryside in Spain...I think there are cows in there...
